India is one of the major exporters of crude drugs mainly to the six developed countries, viz. USA, Germany, France, Switzerland, UK and Japan.

Imports  of Chirata and other Himalayan medicinal plant crude drugs come from Nepal and Bhutan, Oleoresin gugul from Pakistan, Liquorice from Afghanistan, Banshalochan from Singapore. Clove (Syzygium aromaticum), Nutmeg mace (Myristica fragrence aril), Ginger (Zingiber officinale), Kapurkachri (Hedychium spicatum) and Patang (Caesalpinia sappan) are the other raw materials partially imported to fulfill the requirement.
